Batten Down the Hatches! Weather to Add Excitement to Downrigging Weekend

October 29, 2014 by Sultana Education Foundation

Share

Log Notes from Sultana:

If Sultana’s Downrigging Weekend is exciting in the calmest of weather, then you can look forward to an extra exciting Downrigging for 2014.  Current forecasts call for a chilly weekend with the possibility of some stiff winds, sprinkles Saturday, and crystal clear skies Sunday.

Almost all Downrigging Weekend events will proceed regardless of the weather.   The only possible exceptions are the Tall Ship Sails on Saturday and Sunday, andSaturday evening’s fireworks (both events could be impacted by high winds).   Right now we have hope that the sails and fireworks will proceed as planned, but only time will tell.    There is also a chance that Sundayafternoon’s open-house may be moved to make room for an additional Public Sail.

Any Schedule Changes Will Be Posted at https://sultanaeducation.org/

We still have limited space on our Tall Ship sails and you can make reservations with confidence that you will receive a full refund in the event of a cancellation.

If any Tall Ship Sails are cancelled, they will be replaced with free open houses on the Ships. In other words – no matter the weather – there will be plenty going on at Downrigging Weekend.
Our advice is to get out your windbreaker and a few extra layers, stock up on hot-chocolate, and get ready for a fun weekend.

The Downrigging Fireworks scheduled for 7:00pm Saturday, November 1 have been cancelled due to forecasted high winds. Because high winds are forecast for Sunday as well there will be no rain date for the fireworks.
