I’m running for Congress because I feel alarm and anger over the inability of our Federal Government to address the many issues we all know we must face as a nation tax reform, the deficit, immigration reform, our standing in the international community, to name just a few.
If you send me to Washington, I will be relentlessly focused on common sense solutions. I will look for the best of both parties as a foundation for reestablishing trust and a working relationship between the parties. I will support any good idea that makes America stronger no matter where it comes from.
I do not view compromise as a sellout. Compromise is the very essence of democracy.
I do not believe in absolutes.
I do not believe in partisanship.
I believe in taking the long view and building the future in increments, brick by brick. And I believe in dialogue based on shared values we have as Americans, values which are not owned by either party. Values like personal responsibility, fiscal prudence, real equal opportunity and a strong middle class.
The dysfunction in Washington is unsustainable. There is no issue which is more important, more consequential to our nation’s longterm health and prosperity, than that of addressing the cause of this dysfunction.
The center must assert itself. The most extreme voices do not represent the America which we respect and to which we give our loyalty.
I pledge my loyalty to the emerging voices from the center.

Bill Tilghman’s remarks make sense to me.
We need someone to represent us in Congress who will put aside partisan political strategies to discredit and disable the other political side, and who will work with others to make this country work again, for the benefit of all of us.
The choice is ours in the coming election. Your vote is very important. But you can’t make a difference if you don’t show up at the polls to vote.
