At his campaign pig roast at the Worton Park Pavilion over the weekend, Harris P. Murphy, candidate for State’s Attorney for Kent County, secured yet another local law enforcement endorsement—this time from Kent County Sheriff John Price.
The 300-plus supporters in attendance enjoyed food, music and perfect weather. During the event, they heard from former State’s Attorney and former County Administrator, Susanne Hayman, Mr. Murphy, and Sheriff Price.
Ms. Hayman introduced the candidate. She stated that Mr. Murphy possessed all qualifications essential for the county’s chief prosecutor: extensive experience handling criminal cases, ability in the courtroom, sound relationships with law enforcement personnel and attorneys, an understanding of the greater role of the prosecutor within the community, and a respect for, and dedication to, the law.
Sheriff Price’s remarks were to the point. He told the crowd that he had met with both candidates regarding the position and is familiar with their professional backgrounds. Based on everything he knows about the candidates and the office, he declared that, “there is not a doubt in my mind that Mr. Murphy is the best person for the job,” and that he was, “publicly endorsing and supporting his effort to become Kent County’s next State’s Attorney.”
This is the third local law enforcement endorsement Mr. Murphy has received. He was previously endorsed by the Kent County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and the Maryland Troopers Association, Lodge 17 (Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Dorchester and Caroline counties).
Election Day is November 4, 2014. Early voting begins October 23, 2014.
