Nikita Borisevich
Violinist Nikita Borisevich and pianist Margarita Loukachkina will perform Friday, October 3, as the next free offering of the 12@Hotchkiss series at Washington College. The concert begins at noon in Hotchkiss Recital Hall, Gibson Center for the Arts.
Nikita Borisevich, a member of the young chamber group The Russian Trio, began his studies in his native Russia at age 5, learning first from his father, and made his professional debut at 12 with the Perm Opera Symphony Orchestra. He attended the Moscow Conservatory, the Russische Musikakademie Dortmund and the Heifetz Music Academy and performed throughout Eastern Europe before coming to the United States to further his studies with Victor Danchenko at the Peabody Conservatory. He won second prize overall and the audience award at the 2014 Chesapeake International Chamber Music Competition in Easton.
Another native of Russia who began her music studies at home at age 5, Margarita Loukachkina soon enrolled in Moscow’s Gnessin School of Music for Gifted Children and by age 9 was winning her first international prizes. At 16, she was accepted to the Peabody Conservatory of Music, where she studied with renowned pianist Alexander Shtarkman. Having completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, she is pursuing a doctorate at Peabody and teaching at Peabody Preparatory and the Garrison Forest School.
