Thank you for this picture. That is my boat. We are new in Chestertown, moved here 18 months ago. Is it possible that I could get a HD copy of that photo for my own use?
Thank you
Peter Sweetser
James Dissette says
Sent it to you Peter!
Chris Havemeyer says
Good eye Jim.
This goes to show that good design never grows old. Nathanial Herreshoff designed this hull in the late 19th century.
James Dissette says
There was just something about it.
Doug Gates says
Jim,
I too have been eyeballing the boat ever since it has been swinging on the mooring. How could one not be attracted to the graceful lines. To me, it has New England written and designed all over it. Sweet.
Nick Stoer says
Great photo. Looks just like the international one design Dragon that I sailed in Berlin 50 years ago. It was an Olympic Class from 1948 to 1972. Great sailing boat!!!!
Michael Sweetser says
Happily there is a Herreshoff 15 on display, (yes the boat) at the T. F. Green airport lobby in Providence, Rhode Island. Beauty can be “universal”.
Peter Sweetser says
I should, have said that this is now my boat but which was originally built locally for Chris Havemeyer’s family to the lines of the highly regarded Nathaniel G. Herreshoff Watch Hill-15. I am pleased to say that it sails as good as it looks!
James Dissette says
Watch Hil-15? Must be named after Watch Hill, Westerly, Weekapaug Rhode Island area. Of course Newport is up the road.
