The Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) at Chesapeake College for adults 50 and older will hold its Fall Showcase for the new semester on Thursday, August 21 from 2 to 4 p.m.in the lobby of the Todd Performing Arts Center. Participants can enjoy some wine and cheese while they socialize, meet the IAL instructors and learn about the organization.  Instructors will share brief descriptions about the upcoming classes and events that will appeal to many different interests.

What are some options in the fall schedule? Participants can sign up to learn Spanish or German, take a class to improve their computer skills, or choose from several fitness programs that will help them stay healthy. History and current events buffs have opportunities to delve into what’s happening now and what occurred long ago in several history offerings. Silent movie fans might enjoy the Silent Cinema II class. Other possibilities are Meteorology, Navigation at Sea and Successful Business Techniques. Digital SLR Basics can help photographers improve their skills. Cooking enthusiasts can practice Cooking with Italian Herbs or learn more about Creole and Cajun or Korean cuisines. For the artist, Intermediate Zentangle and Sea Glass Jewelry Design should inspire some creative ideas.

IAL members spend the semester exploring these and many other subjects. Come to the Fall Showcase to learn more and become a member.  Contact Anne Slater at 410-827-5810 or email [email protected]  if you plan to attend.
