If you missed Fat Cat Hackett’s rendition of Otis Redding’s classic “(Sittin’ On) the Dock of Bay” you missed a classic moment as the Charles Sumner Post #25/G.A.R. Museum on Queen Street rocked its entertainment debut on Chestertown’s First Friday, August 1.
A native of Chestertown, Hackett toured with The Clovers, arriving in Nice, France in 1988 and has continued to entertain with his magic mix of Rock and Soul from Marseilles to Switzerland.
The G.A.R. second floor stage, with seating for about 50, was packed for the occasion, and offered visitors a chance to see the newly renovated structure that has become a cause célèbre on the Eastern Shore and will continue as a museum focusing on African Americans in the Civil War, and as an event space for music, poetry, theatre and lectures.
