The American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region invites community members to participate in a FREE, half-day training to learn how to better improve mental health! It will take place August 2, 2014 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on 125 S. Lynchburg Street, Chestertown MD.

This free class will teach participants how to cope with emergencies and learn how to prepare, respond to, and recover from trauma. More specifically:

· Spot stress in adults and children
· Learn how stress can be lowered by “resilience,” your ability to bounce back
· Build your resilience and help your kids build their resilience, too!
· Give immediate support to people in stressful situations
· Practice psychological fist aid skills with your neighbors, friends and family members

Community resources will also be shared for both adults and children. Participants can use this information to help children or other adults. After completing the course, participants will also be able to share their knowledge and teach others in the community what they learned.

Advanced registration is required. To register, visit https://1.usa.gov/1ejqIvo and click “event Registration Form.” From the dropdown, please select “August 2 Coping in Today’s World…”

This course is open to the general public (healthcare background is not required).
