The Community Breakfast Group (CBG) will discuss Maryland’s Gubernatorial Primary which is to be held on Tuesday, June 24, at their Thursday breakfast meeting on June 26.
Curiously, there appears to be little interest among the voters in this year’s primary election. There are only five contests among the Democrats, and four among the Republicans. And none of the candidates from either party has done much to identify important issues in such a way as to distance himself from his rivals.
The Gubernatorial races have attracted the most attention. On the Democratic side, the most important issue discussed by the six gubernatorial candidates seems to Anthony Brown’s involvement with Maryland’s ObamaCare rollout, but it appears most Democrats don’t care as polls indicate Mr. Brown has a commanding lead over his rival Doug Gansler. The main theme of the campaigns of the four Republican candidates are Maryland’s high taxes, but none of them has succeeded in building a credible case that he would be better than his rivals in lowering them.
Please join us and let us know what you think of the outcome of the election.
The CBG meets for breakfast every Thursday at 7:30AM at the Holiday Inn Express in Chestertown. Our meetings start promptly at 7:30AM, so you may want to come at 7:15AM to get your breakfast before the meeting.
The candidates for Kent County States Attorney, Harris Murphy and Andy Meehan, will meet with CBG on July 3.
