Playwrights, directors and actors who delight in the art of the 10-minute play are at it again as Short Attention Span Theatre returns for a 10th year at the Garfield Center for the Arts. Short Attention Span Theatre offers an evening of 10-minute plays, designed to hold your attention for Just. Long. Enough.
Produced by Short Attention Span Theatre regulars Diane Landskroener and Mark Sullivan, the plays feature a marvelous multitude of actors, directors and authors, as well as the world premiere of original works by local playwrights Earl Lewin, Howard Mesick, Susan Middaugh, Mark Sullivan, and Keith Thompson.
Continuing the tradition of eclectic variety SAST has become known for, this year’s selections run the gamut from thought-provoking to absurd. Topics range from Love and Absent-mindedness to God and the DMV to William Donald Schaefer and Mysterious Ancient Treasures to Hypnotism and the Interstellar Sniffles. Local theatre veterans Anna Black, Paul Briggs, Tess Hogans, Jane Jewell, Jim Landskroener and Howard Mesick among many, many others grace the stage.
The show features folks from their teens to their 60s including teachers, students, builders, engineers, accountants and more! Thirty of your friends, neighbors and co-workers come together to create one unified production out of many moving parts. This marvelous, crazy and slightly miraculous production is sure to provide belly laughs and provoke plenty of interesting post-show conversations with your fellow theatergoers.

The curtain goes up at the Garfield Center, 210 High St., at 8 p.m. for evenings of delightful entertainment on June 20, 21, 27 and 28. Matinee performances are set for 3 p.m. June 22 and June 29. Opening Night (Friday, June 20), will feature “Pay What You Want” tickets – buy a ticket for $15, $500, $5 or whatever you choose.
All ticket holders are welcome to return for the June 29 performance, which will include a talk-back with playwrights, directors and actors immediately following the show.
Tickets are $15; students with a valid ID pay $5.
