The Eastern Shore Writers Association will hold a half-day workshop on publishing and marketing on Saturday, May 31 in Easton at Trinity Cathedral. Ally Machate, a favorite at the Bay-to-Ocean Writers Conference, will moderate the event titled, “Building a Platform that Will Help You Sell Books.”
“With so many options, it can be difficult to navigate your way to self-publishing success. But if an author wants great results, that person needs to get real and plan for success!” Machate says. In addition, she feels that merely copying what experts like Amanda Hocking or J.A. Konrath have done may not work for everyone. Machate says writers need a plan designed for their type of book and their particular situation. They also need to be aware of the unique opportunities and limitations of the industry in order to maximize the use of their platform to build an audience and sell books. This two and a half hour interactive workshop will give authors a simple five-step roadmap to self-publishing success while revealing tips and tricks to help them get past the hundred-copy ceiling that disheartens so many self-publishers.
Ally E. Machate is the principal editor, writer, and publishing consultant at Ambitious Enterprises (www.ambitiousenterprises.com) and has worked with small and large book publishers, including Simon & Schuster, where she acquired and edited books. The event will be held at the Trinity Cathedral parish hall on Goldsborough St. in Easton May 31 from 9-11:30am. Registration is available at [email protected] or call (410) 476-3917. ESWA members will pay a modest $25 and non-members $35. The public is invited.
