Dear Editor:
Last Wednesday afternoon, Andy Meehan and I were working on a presentation we were to give on Thursday, May 1, at the Radcliffe School for Law Day, sponsored by the American Bar Association and our own Kent County Bar Association. The day’s theme was voting, and we were planning to include a mock election for the kids’ favorite ice cream flavor. Suddenly Andy and I both had the same thought — we should have gift certificates for ice cream cones for the kids after our presentation.
So, at 3:45 p.m., I headed downtown to Stam Drug Store. Cora Jones was at the counter and listened to my request for 70 gift certificates for ice cream cones. She called Rick Elliott, who immediately drew a charming gift certificate.
Within 15 minutes, I had the gift certificates for Law Day! And that’s why I love Chestertown.
Yours truly,
Barbara Jorgenson

Editor,
Kudos to Barbara for being so innovative to help young children learn about the voting process in a language they certainly understand——ice cream!
I know the students ( one of whom is my grandson) faculty and staff at Radcliffe Creek School certainly appreciate your extraordinary effort. Elaine Bowman
