University of Maryland Chester River Health Foundation recently hosted its second annual “Shoot for the Stars,” a casino night fundraiser to help fund the construction of a new Alzheimer’s and Memory Care unit at University of Maryland Shore Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chestertown. More than 100 guests attended the Las Vegas-themed event, held at the Garfield Center for the Arts at the Prince Theatre in Chestertown. The community donated more than $24,000 (gross) to the event.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by “Daddy O,” local attorney Dan Saunders. Prize winners included Wayne Gardner, the evening’s “High Roller,” who won a week in Mexico; Vita Pickrum, who won a 40” Smart TV; Carol Wright, winner of the Divine Wine Basket, which included 20 bottles of wine; Ann Marie Hobbs, winner of four Orioles Tickets; and Yvonne Benzi, who won a long weekend in Washington, DC. Top sponsors included Health Care Services Group and RemediSenior Care; additionally, Avery Hall Benefit Solutions, provided each guest with a complimentary glass of Crow Vineyard’s Sparkling Vidal Blanc upon arrival.
