Linda Dawson will update the Community Breakfast Group (CBG) on the progress Kent Forward has made in helping to improve public schools in Kent County at their regular Thursday morning meeting on March 27.
Kent Forward is a coalition of local businesses, organizations, and community members working to enhance the educational, economic and social well-being of Kent County. The initial goal of the coalition is to support Kent County Public Schools in achieving “Top Five in Five Years”-to see our community schools ranked in the top five school systems in Maryland within five years.
Our first benchmark is School Attendance. Students can fall behind if they miss just a day or two every few weeks. Being late to school affects the whole classroom and may lead to poor attendance. Today in Kent County children and families are more aware of the attendance policy and where each school stands with attendance than ever before. We will be sharing the changes that have occurred in the schools along with many of the great programs that Dr. Couch has been able to bring into the classrooms that will help Kent County Public School reach our goal of “Top Five in Five.”
The CBG meets for breakfast every Thursday at 7:30AM at the Holiday Inn Express in Chestertown. Our meetings start promptly at 7:30AM, so you may want to come at 7:15AM to get your breakfast before the meeting.
