Emily Danforth, award-winning author of The Miseducation of Cameron Post
On Tuesday, March 25, Washington College will present an evening of fiction with Emily Danforth, award-winning author of The Miseducation of Cameron Post. The second event in the “Writing for (and about) Young Adults” series, Danforth’s reading will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Rose O’Neill Literary House, 407 Washington Avenue. It is free and open to the public.
Emily Danforth’s debut novel, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, was released from HarperCollins in 2012 to a flurry of critical acclaim. The coming-of-age tale tells the story of a homosexual teenage girl struggling with her identity and the death of her parents. The novel was the recipient of the 2012 Montana Book Award and was named a finalist for the 2013 Morris Award for a YA Debut Novel and the 2013 Lambda Award in LGBT Children’s/YA.
In addition to her novel, Danforth has published award-winning short fiction and has had nonfiction featured on NPR’s All Things Considered and in The Huffington Post. A graduate of the MFA program in Fiction from the University of Montana and the Ph.D. program in English-Creative Writing from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Danforth now teaches creative writing and literature courses at Rhode Island College. She also serves on the editorial/publishing staff of The Cupboard, a quarterly prose chapbook.
