Former Chestertown Police Chief Walter Coryell filed his candidacy for Kent County Commissioner today.
Coryell, who narrowly missed being elected Commissioner in the 2010 election, said he has “never been more committed to serving the people of the County in a transparent and common sense manner.” Stressing that many of the same issues that plagued the County in 2010 still exist, he said “the concerns of the people of Kent County are my concerns, and I won’t disappear if elected… I’ll make myself available, and work hard on their behalf.”
Coryell is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Department and the Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence; current Commander of American Legion Post 36; member of the Knights of Columbus, Sons of the American Revolution, FBI National Academy Associates, Maryland Chiefs of Police, and Kent County Fraternal Order of Police.
Coryell holds a Masters Degree from Towson University, and holds the rank of Colonel in the Maryland Defense Force. Coryell lives in Chestertown with his wife Mary. Citizens for Walter Coryell can be reached by email at [email protected].
