It falls to me to share the unfortunate news that Jim Manaro will be leaving Washington College in February 2014, and moving on to Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia, as Vice President for Finance and Administration.
In his nearly six and a half years as Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration, Jim has made an indelible mark on Washington College. He oversaw the planning and construction of Hodson Hall Commons and the Gibson Center for the Arts, as well as the renovation of Miller Library, construction of the Sassafras and Chester residential facilities, the expansion of the Johnson Fitness Center, and the environmental remediation of the College’s new waterfront property.
Jim was instrumental in further diversifying the College’s endowment and in negotiating more favorable terms for refinancing the College’s long-term bonds. As a key member of the College’s Finance and Benefits Committee, he also made important contributions in developing transparency within the College’s budgeting processing and communicating that information to faculty and staff. I will personally miss his budget acumen and good humor. We know he will serve Randolph College with the same dedication and expertise he brought to Washington College, and we wish him every success.
“I will miss working with the trustees and all my colleagues and friends of the College,” Jim says. “I truly enjoyed my time here and hope I am as fortunate at Randolph College.”
Please join me in wishing Jim the best of luck in his future endeavors.
