Chris Gorycki, Headmaster at Kent School, announced that Patrick Pearce will be joining the Kent School faculty as 5th grade teacher and 8th grade history teacher. Mr. Pearce comes to Kent School from the Queen Anne’s County Board of Education where he held the position of Transition Coordinator. In that position he served as an advocate and mentor for students involved in the Alternative Education Program. Prior to his teaching experience, Pearce held administrative positions with increasing levels of responsibility at The Caroline Center in Ridgely and at Washington College. He was born in Chicago but spent most of his life in Baltimore. He is a Washington College graduate.
“Patrick is a natural teacher,” said Gorycki. “That became clear when I observed him teach one of our classes. He relates well to students and puts them at the center of their learning. He has strong classroom management skills and brings joy and excitement to the learning process. He is well versed in differentiated instruction and multiple forms of assessment. Patrick will be a wonderful addition to our outstanding faculty.”
In addition to his classroom experience Patrick has also coached youth soccer and enjoys assisting with theatrical productions. Both are important parts of the Kent School students’ experience beyond the classroom. Mr. Pearce will begin his Kent teaching career on October 1. Gorycki continued, “It is a pleasure to welcome Patrick. Our values of integrity, respect, responsibility, and friendship will ensure his smooth transition.”
Kent School is an independent school serving students from pre-k through grade 8. For more information call 410-778-4100 or visit www.kentschool.org
