Chestertown Recreation Commission is excited to announce the formation of its first adult recreation program, Ye Olde Bocce League.
Bocce, for those that aren’t familiar is a lawn game played like something between horseshoes and bowling. It requires no particular skill and is easy
to learn. Bocce is attractive to all types of people because it’s so darn versatile and easy to learn that you can play almost anywhere there is some flat open ground. It can be casual or competitive, men and women are on equal footing and age is never an issue.
We are currently accepting registration for adult teams of 4-6 players, but are also able to take individuals who wish to play and make new friends and
we will find a team for you.
Why would you sign up to play in a bocce league? Well, for one, there’s the social aspect—meeting people who like to have as much fun as you do.
Says CRC Chair, Bill Arrowood, “Its about dispelling the myth there is nothing to do in Chestertown, there is only one way to fix that, and that is to get out and do something fun. Here is your chance”
Second, you get an awesome team bocce t-shirt and the chance to win a trophy, compete with bragging rights to all your friends and thirdly, your
league fee will go to sponsor more great programming for residents and families in town.
The League will begin play on the Thursday after Labor day and play in the evenings in Wilmer Park. Each team will play one game per week and the
season will vary based on the total number of teams that sign up. The CRC hopes to enlist a local bar or restaurant as a sponsor with details to will follow. League fees will be $20 per person, (team captains of a team with 6+ players will have their fee waived).
