Kent School’s headmaster, Chris Gorycki announced the addition of a Resource Teacher to the school’s full time faculty.
“It gives me great pleasure to announce that Jess Thompson has accepted our new Resource Teacher position.” This position was created to serve the needs of students who would benefit from one-on-one support in addition to daily classroom instruction. Jess will be on hand to provide appropriate exercises, material, and feedback for students who require extra help with new concepts and for students who readily grasp new concepts and are ready for additional challenges. Jess will work closely with each teacher to ensure the best possible outcome for each child.
“We believe that the creation of the Resource Teacher position, with Jess leading, will benefit all of our teachers and students. It is a great step in enhancing our program and I am eager to see our students continue to blossom through it,” continued Gorycki. “Jess is a teacher in possession of a strong growth mindset and educational skill set that matches this position beautifully.”
Thompson has served as a teacher at Kent School for the last six years and is an important and respected member of the faculty. She earned her undergraduate degree from Washington College and has started work on her Masters Degree. As the recipient of the 2011 Lyn McNaught Teaching Award, Jess was recognized as an educator skilled at careful preparation and in possession of a strong understanding of learning styles. Jess brings a tremendous joie de vivre to all that she does and I am confident that she will accomplish many great things in her new role.
