RiverArts Goes Abstract in May

May 1, 2013 by Chestertown RiverArts

Chestertown RiverArts will feature in May 2013 a show of abstract art, “Abstraction,” at its High Street galleries. The show’s curators invited artists to bring works presenting a wide range of expressions of abstract art including abstract realizations of the real world, pure compositions independent of reality, evocations of mood and emotion, and a host of other interpretations.

Mediums represented in the show include painting, mixed mediums, photography, hand-formed ceramics, and more. Artists committed to the show include Geraldine Czajkowski from Stevensville, Linnie Weiss from Centreville, Jody Primoff from Catonsville, Gottried Baumann from Chestertown, and many other regional artists.

“Abstraction” will be mounted in the main gallery contemporaneously with “Second Look” in the Studio gallery, a show featuring plein air paintings of some 55 artists participating in RiverArts’ “Paint the Town” event which will have occurred in the later part of April. This mix of the profoundly abstract coupled with the largely realistic renderings of Chestertown and Kent County will present a visual feast for all tastes.

The show will open First Friday, May 3 with a reception 5-8pm. The show will run through Saturday, June 1. For questions or additional information on the show, contact Lead Curator Rich Hall at [email protected] (410-928-5012).
