On Saturday, March 16, at 7 pm, the Philadelphia Camerata returns to St. Paul’s Parish House, 7579 Sandy Bottom Road, Chestertown, for its fourth performance with the Kent Chamber Music series. A favorite of the series, the Philadelphia Camerata features Charles Forbes on cello, Yuko Izuhara Gordon on piano, Michael Strauss on viola and –new to the group this year – Simon Gollo on violin.
The group will be performing Piano Quartet in E Major by Ludwig van Beethoven; Trio for Strings by Albert Roussel and piano Quartet in Eb Major by Robert Schumann. This program brings together music from three different eras: the classical clarity of the late 18th century, the crisp tonal explorations of the early 20th century, and the free-wheeling romanticism of the 19th century.
The Philadelphia Camerata introduces award-winning Swiss-Venezuelan violinist, Simon Gollo, to our series . The Founder and Artistic Director of the internationally renowned Festival y Academia del Nuevo Mundo — one of the most acclaimed chamber music festivals in Venezuela — Gollo is considered one of the most important musical figures in Latin America. Simón Gollo is currently a member of the International Chamber Soloists led by Dmitri Berlinsky and a violin professor for the Elite Strings Program, in addition to his position as first violinist of the Dalí Quartet.
After the concert, meet and mingle with these internationally renowned musicians, over refreshments. Feel free to bring your favorite cookies to share with other music lovers.
