Church Hill Theatre announces auditions for Alan Ball’s Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, a contemporary comedy to be performed in April. Auditions will be held at Church Hill Theatre on Saturday, January 19 from 11 am to 2 pm; Monday, January 21 from 6 to 9 pm; and Saturday, January 26 from 11 am to 2 pm.
Ball, known for the movie American Beauty and TV series Six Feet Under, takes us to an over-the–top wedding reception in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress. Finding refuge in an upstairs bedroom, the bridesmaids, diverse in age and experience, discover more in common than they expected. Often racy but ultimately life affirming, this is a fast-paced and very funny play.
There are five roles for women, ages 20s to 40, and one part for a man, age 20 to 35. The director, Liz Clarke, will ask actors to do cold readings from the script. Producer Sylvia Maloney also needs technicians for the backstage crew. Five Women Wearing the Same Dress will open on April 5 and run for three weekends, through April 21, 2013.
