Hon. Paul M. Bowman and Bella, on view as part of Baskin’s “For the Love of Dogs” exhibit opening First Friday at the Hogans Building.
Not only will shops and galleries be open late for December’s First Friday, but Santa will be out checking who has been naughty or nice, Kent School students will be caroling, and Chestertown’s downtown streets will be illuminated with luminaries decorated by local
elementary and middle schools. In addition, the Garfield Center will be lighting its recently restored marquee. Bundle up and enjoy the festivities. Here is a by all means non-inclusive list of events:
The Kent County Public Library invites everyone to begin the town’s festive First Friday stroll viewing their exhibit of abstract paintings by Barbara Finneson, Lorraine Fry, Barbara Snyder and Gottfried Bauman. The pieces will be displayed at the main branch throughout the month, perhaps inspiring a purchase for that special someone just in time for the fast-approaching holiday season. Also feature student artists from Kent County High School. (Plenty of parking as well.)
Another must-see is the Historical Society of Kent County’s Voices of Kent, an exhibit featuring oral histories from thes Library Collection, accompanied by photographs taken by Tyler Campbell of Chestertown. It is on display at the Society’s future Bordley History Center, 301 High Street in Chestertown, now through January; Tues, Wed, Thurs and Sat from 10:00 – 2:00, and Friday, 10:00-5:00.
