Foreign Policy Magazine has listed their top 50 most powerful Republicans on foreign policy this week with Washington College’s president, Mitchell Reiss coming in as thirty-seventh. Despite a public departure from Romney’s campaign position not to negotiate with terrorists earlier this year, Reiss remains a strong contender for national security advisor if Mitt Romney wins in November.

The magazine ranking certainly was to be expected.
Washington College is indeed fortunate to have a President with the stature and reputation of Mitchell Reiss. Perhaps not the typical college President, he is both prograssive and forward thinking. The initiatives he is inaugurating, including the waterfront component of the campus of WC, will benefit Washington for generations to come.
While he may have a committment to serve a potential new President, let us hope that Washington College will benefit from his leadership for years to come.
