All artists are invited to submit their photographic work to the Chestertown Arts League’s 10th Annual Photography Awards Show, “A Moment in Time.” Photographers seek to capture a fleeting moment where light and subject and mood all merge into a unique image; they partner with their cameras to produce a technically well executed picture, and enjoy expressing their interpretations of the scene. Photographers are invited to submit their special work which may be B/W or color and traditional film or digital and on any subject.
In this judged show, awards will include modest monetary prizes for “Best in Show” and for First Place in a variety of categories which may include Nature and Wildlife; Scenic; the Works of Man; Human Subjects and Portraiture; Abstracts; Still life; Black and White; Creative Digital Enhancement and open subjects. The judge will give other non-monetary awards in the form of honorable mentions. This is a highly popular annual show with historically wide-ranging participation from regional photographers.
We are pleased announce our judge for this year’s show is Peter B. Kaplan. He now resides in Hockessin, Delaware and maintains an editing studio there. He studied photography at Sam Houston University in Texas and then returned to NYC where he assisted many of New York’s top commercial photographers, and because of his avid interest in nature and wildlife photography, he studied under Ansel Adams, Bob Sisson, and Doug Faulkner. His specialty of “height photography” was born upon the completion of the World Trade Center in New York. He was awarded the title of “The Preferred Photographer” of the Stature of Liberty / Ellis Island Foundation, where he volunteered for ten years. His photographs were buried in 4 time capsules under the Brooklyn Bridge, Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty and in the top spire of the Chrysler Building.
Mr. Kaplan’s many accolades and accomplishments can be reviewed on his website www.peterbkaplanstock.com.
