Yay! Cyclists…pedestrians…tricycling kids & in-line skaters unite! Our rails-to-trails wishes are finally coming true in Chestertown, thanks to our town council-folk, Mayor Bailey, Bill Ingersoll and Kees de Mooy. Now all we need is to convince the Commissioners to take it to the Community Center in Worton…and beyond!
Melinda Bookwalter says
Yes, to the Community Center, to the community center! What a wonderful way for families and kids to travel safely to swim in the pool, play games, take classes, hang out and have fun. Commissioners and Margo and Ginny Gough (one of the early organizers, now deceased) thank you and may your vision expand into an even greater reality!

As of Saturday the 28th, the trail is paved all the way from Dixon Valve on High Street to Stepne Station (across from Wilmer Park.) I had a wonderful run on it this morning — a great alternative to dodging the road work along Quaker Neck Road.
Thank you Bill, Kees, Mayor Bailey and Town Council (and especially former Council member Gibson Anthony — whose “taking a bullet for the team” should be properly acknowledged) for making this happen.

While at our annual cycling event at Washington College over the holiday weekend we had the opportunity to ride on the new trail from the college to Wilmer Park. What a wonderful addition to Chestertown! Can’t wait to see the trail extended to Worton.
