Robert and Janet Hewes have given a gift to Kent County. That gift is 0.789 acres of land right next to Cliff City Public Landing. This new land would give Kent County access to the mouth of the Chester River. The Kent County Commissioners gratefully accepted the gift and thanked the Hewes for their generous gift.
While there are no immediate plans for the land, it will be added to county inventory. Donald Hewes, the son of Robert and Janet, was at the Commissioners’ Meeting on March 20, 2012 to present this offer to the Commissioners. Many Commissioners shared stories of their time spent at the Cliff City Public Landing.
