This could work!!
DNR is known around here. The men are not nuts and they have a reputation for fair dealing while protecting a valuable resource. To have their commander on board is a real asset. Those local DNR guys were led by somebody.
The TSA thing………..we all make mistakes.
While the TSU degree in MassComm might be considered a draw back, I think it will go well here. Having lived in Towson, Mr. Baker has seen how a police force can work too hard for too little result. The degree from Hopkins means he got on and off the Hopkins campus with his skin. AND he is a hard working grind!
The rest of the mayor and counsel blurb will be fine. But what is really at issues is Frosty. Will he resist bringing down hell fire from the federally financed grapes of wrath OR instruct his men to ignore silly people and keep things happy?

Great Choice!!! Joe what is TSA?? This man has all it takes to make a wonderful chief. I hope that he gets the support that he needs for success. He is very well qualified and has the ability to do a wonderful job. DNR does EVERYTHING that State troopers do, plus a whole lot more! This in mind, his duties should not be anything new!
Congrats to the new Chief!

Paula,
Is not TSA = Homeland Security? After the 9/11 attack the fed response to communication problems within various agencies was to construct yet another agency (Homeland Security) and Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) is the same group.
He seems like a fine guy with a perfect background for the work here. My view of Homeland Security, TSA and the Patriot Act is what it is.
Perhaps the chief would care to explain his function with Homeland Security?
Yikes!

The new Chief sounds highly qualified for a tough job. His Mass Media studies indicates broad community interests in all areas that concern the town in promoting and presenting the town to visitors who may wish to live here as well. Our police know us as homeowners with vested interests in keeping our downtown and Historic District free of crime. A lot of progress has been made cooperatively by citizens with law enforcement help over the past 20 years. As they say in the musical “The Music Man”, “You gotta know the territory!” Welcome and hail to the new Chief Baker and his family. – Patsy Hornaday

Thanks Joe, I had forgotten that acronym. I doubt the Homeland Security function is anything to worry about. I enjoy your posts!

Patsy & family,
Sorry but NO!
Here come the big letters………..EQUAL PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW!
Any law enforcement officer who promised…”I will keep you free from the riff & raff would immediately contradict his oath of office.
And by the way…Historic District is a load of crap! I have sen it elsewhere and the story is the same…select structures that are old but ignore other equally old structure that contradicts some preconceived notion of history.
For example………….human beings were sold in the area no known as the fountain park. The Episcopal church used to ring a bell at 9:00PM to let all “Freedmen” know it was time to get out of town. Nobody celebrates that aspect of local history.
So let us not overprice the brothels and bowling alleys of the past. You may call an outhouse a privy if you must but the police keep all sections of town crime free as best they can.
I would continue but happy hour has started and . . .
Joe

All you renters and folks living outside of the protected downtown and historic district are on your own. Truer words were never written.
