The first mixed media gallery show offered by Artworks, the exhibit presents eight talented artists who employ a wide variety of techniques and media in depicting their perspectives of the world around us.
Curator Anne Crane Harlan, herself one of the artists represented, offers, “Being a first time curator of a show at Artworks has given me a chance to interact with member and non members, and to see how amazingly talented the artists in our community are. I was inspired by many of the pieces in the show; seeing and learning from ideas and techniques that are bold and thoughtful.”
Other artists include, Sally Clark, Susan Mayberry, Jacquelyn Phaff-Pratt, Heidi Wetzel, Caroline Weiss, Alice Pickett Lewis and Pam Foss. Among the works are depictions of natural environs, from local scenery to the far-flung vistas of Tuscany, from concrete images to abstract visions.
Media used includes torn and cut paper, acrylics, texturized collage, hand made paper, woven sculptures, and natural indigenous fibers – sea glass, feathers and river shells.
An opening reception will take place on First Friday February 3 from 5-8 pm, where visitors can meet the artists while browsing through the gallery and enjoying light fare. The show continues thru February 25.
