The weather was much more favorable Wednesday morning as Jon Hanley, ably assisted by one of Chestertown’s maintenance crew, worked his way down High Street, hanging garland and lights above downtown Chestertown buisnesses. The project began Tuesday; despite the rain, assorted Downtown Chestertown Association members, friends and town government workers all pitched in to have the decorations up for Thanksgiving.

The work is absolutely beautiful. Thanks to all those involved. Curious that the park row shops were not done. Is this purposeful?

Why is it only “Downtown” Chestertown sounds like it is the only real part of Chestertown, at one time it was but that was many, many years ago. We had 2 furniture stores, 4 shoe stores as well as other stores such as Foxes, which carried a bit of everything, Bonnetts and many others. When Chestertown expanded it practacally ruined downtown, now it’s a downtown that probably the majority of us can’t afford anymore, ya think that’s what makes it so special? Sure wish we could turn the clock back 50 years or more, that was a wonderful time and a wonderful town that welcomed all!!!!
