Winner of four Oscars (Best Director, Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Picture), director Tom Hooper’s biopic tells the story of how the man who became King George VI (Colin Firth) struggled to overcome a stammer that had given many the impression that he was unfit to be king. Through unorthodox methods from his self-assured commoner speech therapist, Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush), “Bertie” is able to find his voice as the threat of World War II looms. In addition to Firth (Best Actor), both Rush and Helena Bonham Carter (Queen Elizabeth) offer outstanding performances.
