“Lighten Up, Celebrate the Art of Living” was the theme for the 6th Annual Arts Dinner and Auction which raised over $68,000 for
programs at St. Martin’s Ministries. Over two hundred guests attended the fundraising event held on October 7 at the Chesapeake Room in Rock Hall.
“This success is the result of year-long planning by our volunteer committee and the wonderful support of the community,” explained Ellie Poorman who chaired the event. “We are particularly grateful to our artists, many of whom have donated their work year after year, and to other local individuals and businesses who contributed to the live and silent auctions. Berkeley Ake’s imaginative and colorful painting, Still Life with Bird Pitcher, was the focal point of the live auction and the inspiration for the ‘Lighten Up’ theme. We are pleased that the event was once again an excellent fundraiser for those in need in our community.”
Washington College First Lady Elisabeth Reiss served as Mistress of Ceremonies, enthusiastically playing the role of Auctioneer as well. The delightful evening closed with a medley of lively dances performed by the Washington College Sho’ Troupe.
