Over 600 persons attended Chestertown’s screenings of the Chesapeake Film Festival this past Sunday at Garfield Center for the Arts at the Prince Theatre.
The Best of International Children Film Festival held about 30 kids mesmerized in the morning; the documentary Bag It attracted a good crowd as well, with a lively Q & A session afterward with director Suzan Beraza.
According to festival sponsor Dave Wheelan, there were, “…even about 70 for the ‘sleeper’ animated film, A Cat in Paris, “with many staying for the film chronicling school lunches in Baltimore, Cafeteria Man. Wheelan continued, “There is clearly a film constituency in the community, and having the event at the Garfield Center made for a great cinematic experience with this wonderful new screen.”
The Kent County Marching Band performed four songs outside prior to the highlight of the festival, the 8pm screening of director Kurt Kolaja’s documentary on the group, Band Together. The band then gave a twenty minute impromptu concert after the film as an appropriate finale to a full house.

I LOVED this evening!!!! I’ve seen lots of movies in this theatre during my growing up years…..but I know I didn’t enjoy any as much as “Band Together”…….and for sure I’ve never seen the Prince Theater looking lovlier. When the band marched in for the finale……..well, it was pure joy.
