Rest in peace young man. Your life was cut too short too soon. Peace to his family.
I would ask everyone to sign the petition to get the attention of the SHA to improve this intersection.

Thank you.

A great deal of attention has been given to that intersection for years. In fact most recently when the FASTC was in the offering. No doubt that an overpass would have come along with the set up. For years, those of us who ride past that area were told that a north J-Turn was in the making. Still NOTHING and now the sad loss of a young life and severe injuries to other young students. Sad. Sad. Guess one of the members of QACA will work on not allowing or blocking the County/State Roads to build a safe method of crossing that very busy intersection. They would not want to further the traffic pattern to allow opening up that area to further “development.” Might interfere with the precious “farm land.”
Push the QA County Officials to demand action at Rt 304/301 north !! No more lost lives in that dangerous place. Contact the Commissioners to put this intersection on their priority list, NOW.

They’re putting in J turns, apparently it had been scheduled for awhile. I don’t think it will make that intersection much safer though. They really need to put an overpass there.

Look, I mean no disrespect to anyone that has lost their lives there but come on. It is the reponsibility of everyone who crosses that or any intersection to make sure it is completely safe to do so. It is not the intersections fault that everyone crossing there is in such a hurry that they can’t wait that extra few seconds to make sure it is clear. I cross that intersection all the time and see it time and time again. There is plenty of room in the middle to stop and wait but instead, everyone tries to cross both directions of travel at once. Why should there be a cost put on the lives of people if people don’t value it themselves? Maybe if everyone would put the cell phone down, finished their make up at home, read the paper in the evenings, saved the laptop for home or work and just did the one thing they are supposed to be doing when they are behind the wheel and consentrated on driving, all of the intersections would be safer.
seriously? says
I am shocked at the nerve of the person who posted that last comment. That comment would have been warrented if this was strictly a headline/article about “safe driving, etc”, but it was an article about a YOUNG BOY who LOST HIS LIFE. have a little compassion, would you? Save your preachings for the CORRECT TIME AND PLACE. This is beyond sad, and although there could have been things to prevent it (as with most everything), that is neither here nor there, and you should be ashamed of yourself for saying what you said, especially when this boy’s family will most likely see it and I am sure they already feel horrible enough without you basically telling them it was their child’s fault for not paying attention. I am hoping that you are not a parent, because if you were- and this happened to you- I would hope that noone would say that to you and make you feel as bad as you probably made those parents feel.
SHAME ON YOU.
God Bless the family of everyone involved in this accident, and thoughts and prayers to

To Seriously? Had you read all of the comments, you would had seen that my comment was directed to those replies. Everyone screams because there is no overpass at this intersection and that a J-Turn may or may not work so I replied. I also stated that I ment NO DISRESPECT to ANYONE that has lost their lives there. Again, the point I was making about paying attention, well, you just proved it for me. Thanks.

SERIOUSLY & others,
This is a forum…all points of view are correct!
YES:
The driver made an error.
The intersection is dangerous.
It is sad those so young died and suffered undeservedly.
Defects in the car, the other driver, the State of MD, local police & hospitals will be noted in the coming lawsuits.
NO: Fixing one aspect of the situation will not eliminate the chance of the exact thing happening again soon.
SO WHAT CAN YA DO?
Tell the owners of three businesses near the intersection they will need to close down or modify their operations because the new clover leaf intersection will suck up their property?
Sue the Jeep mfg because there is a chance the new driver missed the oncoming car because of the seat back?
Sue the State od MD because traffic has increased since RT 301 & 304 were designed?
Ban anyone under about ninety from driving?
Raise the driving age to about fifty?
OR
Move on. Learn.
As a parent who handed car keys to a responsible teen aged son I worried every day that his youth, inexperience or new road situations would hurt someone…or him. He did fine; roll of the dice! Now that he is out of college and using military equipment, in our name, I really worry he will hurt someone OR someone else’s child will hurt him.
