Downtown merchants are gearing up for Crazy Days, Chestertown’s annual summer sidewalk sale and all around fun event, sponsored by the Downtown Chestertown Association, running Thursday, July 28 through Saturday July 30.
There will be plenty of activities for kids while Mom & Dad are bargain shopping. McGruff, “The Crime Dog” will be prowling around to make sure everyone behaves, and when hunger strikes, you can head in to one of the restaurants, or try Mt Olive AME Church’s sausages, fish sandwiches and funnel cakes. The New York Kosher-Style Deli hosts the Italian Ice Man on Thursday, Saturday Primitive Finds will be scooping up Sno Cones.
New this year on Saturday is a hot dog eating contest in Fountain Park, sponsored by the New York Kosher-Style Deli. Entrants can preregister at the deli on the day of the event at 10:30. The contest will be limited to ten participants in each of two age groups; 12 to 16 year olds, and adults. Contestants have 5 minutes to eat as many Kosher Big Hot Dogs, (don’t forget the roll !), as possible. Judging the event are Keith Thompson, Lucia Foster, Courtney Phelps, Tim Lloyd, Peter Heck, and Dianne Harris, with others yet to be confirmed. First and second prize winners receive a gift certificate to the deli. How do you practice for something like that ?
