Summer Youth Workshop at Church Hill Theatre

April 28, 2011 by Kate Livie

Church Hill Theatre announces that enrollment is now open for its summer youth theatre workshop: Green Room Gang, Sr. This program is meant for youth between the ages of 10 and 16 and will be held Mondays through Thursdays from 9 AM to 3 PM. The workshop begins on Monday, June 20 and ends with performances on July 21, 22 and 23, 2011.

GRG, Sr. has been a continuing education program at Church Hill Theatre since 1999 and boasts a number of graduates who have gone on to pursue degrees in Theatre and Musical Theatre. Some have returned to intern with the GRG program.

Brittney Lynn will direct the GRG, Sr. this summer. Miss Lynn holds a degree in Music and Education from Frostburg University. She served as the music director of CHT’s 2010 musical Oliver! and is repeating the responsibility for this June’s production of Brigadoon.

One of CHT’s greatest hopes is that, through this program, children will gain a working knowledge of the performing arts, in order that they may pursue a variety of theatrical interests in the future. The program will allow the students to grow as actors and actresses while creating friendships and experiences which will last a lifetime.

During the comprehensive five-week program, students will be exposed to all components of the performing arts ranging from theatre games, dance, music, and improvisation to character and scene development. Most of all, students will have an opportunity to experience first-hand the wonderful world of theatre. One of life’s great adventures is to be involved in a theatrical production, from auditions to rehearsals to opening night. The thoughts and feelings are compelling. It is CHT’s hope that your child will be able to enjoy a feeling of accomplishment through involvement in something he/she will never forget.

Please contact the Church Hill Theatre Office at 410-758-1331 or email [email protected] for application forms and information on tuition.
