Incumbent Kent County Commissioner, Ronald (Ron) Fithian, has filed to run for the job of commissioner again. Fithian was a county commissioner from 1994 through 2002 and was reelected to the position in 2006.
“I obviously enjoy the job,” he says. ” The first eleven years it was fun, but this year’s not fun. It’s a challenging time but you can’t run from it.”
Fithian believes incumbency provides helpful experience going forward.
“The budget’s tough and decisions will need to be made in the future and it’s important to know, even you don’t know all the answers, where to get the answers,” he says.
Fithian has been Rock Hall’s town manager for fourteen years. Married with four children, he lives in Rock Hall.

The sooner I get a “Re-Elect Ron Fithian as County Commissioner” bumper sticker, the sooner it’ll go on my pickup along with “And Re-Elect William Pickrum Too!”
