Queen Anne’s deputies found a wrecked Chevy Monte Carlo and a snapped telephone pole – but no driver – when they arrived to investigate an accident on Ewingtown Road at Chestertown on Saturday.
“On arrival it was determined that the vehicle had left the roadway and struck a telephone pole, breaking the pole off. The vehicle was driverless at that time,” reported Deputy Larry Steenken.
“It was learned that the driver fled the scene and was later found at a friend’s house.”
The driver, Jessica Marie Elbourn, 21, of Chestertown, was charged with leaving the scene, failure to control speed and failure to drive right of center.
