If you missed the Bearded Ladies last visit to Chestertown, now’s your chance to transcend most theatre experiences
The vastly talented ensemble troupe will be performing their wild cabaret “Bitter Homes and Gardens” Thursday and Friday at 6pm in the Norman James Theatre, and answer the age-old question, “If plants had voices, what would they sing?”
Yes, plants. Singing plants, ferns, weeds and flowers— solo and chorus flora.
Sponsored as this year’s WC SANDBOX Distinguished Visiting Artists, Bearded Ladies are collaborating with Leslie Garcia to pull off their magic. Garcia, an electronic engineer who actually interacts with plants electronically, will be joining the Bearded Ladies for the Washington College iteration of the cabaret.
The Philadelphia Inquirer described The Bearded Ladies as “endearing, talented, always-a-pleasure” and said the show featured “lots of wit” and “tons of puns,” while Philadelphia City Paper called it “charmingly casual” and “downright adorable.”
The Spy caught up with John Jarboe, a founding member of Bearded Ladies, to talk about theatre, art, their relationship to Chestertown and a surprising production in the works.
Keep track of the troupe in Facebook.
