Background
The Kent County Community Assistance Fund is a volunteer organization purposed to provide critical financial support for programs administered by the County Department of Social Services’ Child Advocacy Center. The Center assists child victims of sexual or serious physical abuse. Sufficient funds are not always available from Local, State and Federal sources to provide fully for these affected children. So, the fund is being organized to provide services for these fragile children.
The volunteers are asking members of the county community to make modest contributions to build a fund to help these children.
Similarly, another division of our Social Services Department works with Vulnerable Adults who are experiencing chronic mental illnesses and other medically fragile conditions. These, mostly elderly, adults often are unable to take care of their essential material needs. So, with proper guidance provided by the Department, some of these needs can be achieved with modest financial support. This Fund can and will assist those needy individuals.
This is an initial attempt to solicit support from the community and is bringing together various private sector contributors to meet needs of some of our unfortunate county residents. All contributions to the Fund are fully tax deductible.
