Michael Smigiel is running for re-election as Delegate representing the 36th Legislative District in Maryland’s General Assembly. Dick Sossi is running for election as Senator representing the 36th District. They will discuss their campaigns with the Community Breakfast Group (CBG) at their Thursday breakfast meeting on June 5.
Delegate Michael Smigiel has served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates since 2003 where he has served as Minority Parliamentarian and Chair of the Tea Party Caucus.
After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Del. Smigiel earned a BA in political science from Northern Illinois University, and a J.D. from the Northern Illinois University College of Law. He then established one of the leading law practices in Cecil County. Among his many accomplishments, he has chaired the ethics committee of the Cecil County Bar Association and founded Mediation, Inc., an alternative dispute resolution center.
Delegate Dick Sossi served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 2003 to 2011. As delegate, he has served as Deputy Minority Whip, Member of the Environmental Matters Committee and Chair of the Queen Anne’s County and Caroline County Delegations.
Del. Sossi received a BA in Asian Studies at the University of Colorado, then served in Vietnam with the US Navy and with the National Security Agency. Since then he has operated the Ship and Soldier Shop in Annapolis and served as Community Liaison for Representative Andy Harris. He has also chaired the Queen Anne’s County Republican Central Committee.
The CBG meets for breakfast every Thursday at 7:30AM at the Holiday Inn Express in Chestertown. Our meetings start promptly at 7:30AM, so you may want to come at 7:15AM to get your breakfast before the meeting.
Sheriff John Price will discuss current public safety issues in Kent County with CBG at their Thursday breakfast meeting on June 12.
