On Sunday, August 21, at 10 a.m., Ms. Dianne Turpin and Ms. Susan Eddy will lead a discussion entitled “Becoming Wise” at the Unitarian Universalists of the Chester River, 914 Gateway Dr., Chestertown. Once upon a time two old women (both Aging Advocates) sat together discussing aging. They wondered if between them they had anything fresh or useful to bring to a discussion of aging. They soon concluded they had nothing. . . until one of them mentioned Krista Tippett, host of the NPR show, On Being, as well as author of a new book, Becoming Wise, An Inquiry into the Mystery and Art of Living. In that moment the two old women knew they had a topic lively enough for a UU Sunday summer discussion
Help these two old women (Aging Advocates) examine the connection between aging and wisdom. Native American author Robin Wall Kimmerer suggests, “I like the ecological idea of aging as progressive enrichment, rather than progressive loss.” What do we think of that idea?
There are so many questions we can ponder. When we think of wisdom, what comes to mind? Which historical figures do we honor for their wisdom? And who from right here, right now? Who among us? And how about you! Are you becoming wise?
Join us for this discussion; join us to share your own wisdom! All are welcome.
