Organizers of Kent School’s Osprey Triathlon have announced that they have rescheduled the triathlon which includes cycling, kayaking and running for Sunday, May 15. Hurricane Patricia forced the cancellation of the Osprey Triathlon that was originally planned for October 4.
This event is the fifth annual edition of a unique area race. Although the race has grown and evolved over the years, the Osprey Tri remains unchanged. The course includes a 7-mile bike ride, a 2-mile kayak paddle and finishes with a 3-mile run. Individual racers and relay teams are welcome.
The course begins and ends on the Kent School campus at 6788 Wilkins Lane in Chestertown. The triathlon course takes advantage of Kent School’s unique location adjacent to the Chester River. The race begins at 9:00 a.m. and should be completed between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m. All racers are invited to a post-race party featuring live music, food and drinks. Register online for the Osprey Tri by visiting www.kentschool.org/osprey-triathlon.
The Osprey Tri is open to racers age 9 and up. Racers between the ages of 9 and 13 must be part of a relay team with at least one team member at least 16 years of age. Registration fees are as follows:

Mixed Age Relay $135
Jr. 2 or 3 Person Relay $120
Registration fee includes performance t-shirt for all participants, awards, and post-race lunch and beverages.
Optional fees include a kayak rental fee of $10. The Osprey Triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and features chip timing. Osprey Tri participants must have a current USAT membership. One-day memberships may be purchased at the time of registration for $12. Lunch may also be purchased by non-racers for $7.
Tricia Cammerzell, event coordinator said, “It is hard to believe we are planning our fifth annual race. The growth and success of the Osprey racing events would not be possible without the army of volunteers required to coordinate this event. We are also incredibly grateful to the sponsors who have made this possible. Special thanks go to Gunther McClary Real Estate. They have been with us as a segment sponsor from the beginning, and this year they are a lead sponsor. RealTerm is also a leadership sponsor. Yerkes Construction, Dixon Valve and David A. Bramble, Inc. have been loyal supporters.”
