Earth Stewardship Days: Rev Up The Planet is a month-long series of events designed to raise awareness of the importance of taking care of the Earth. Earth Stewardship Days is sponsored by Chestertown RiverArts, the Carla Massoni Gallery, the Art of Stewardship Project founded and led by Greg Mort, and the many organizations throughout the greater Chestertown area that are committed to the concept that we all have a role to play in promoting active stewardship of our planet.

Friday, APRIL 1
Art of Stewardship Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony

The Art of Stewardship exhibition will feature works that express a personal connection to nature and our role as stewards. The Awards Ceremony, hosted by acclaimed artist and founder/director of the Art of Stewardship Project Greg Mort, will be from 5:00 to 6:30 on First Friday, April 1, during which winners of The Art of Stewardship Juried Show will be announced.
THE UNSETTLED EARTH: The Art of Stewardship Opening Reception

Featuring work by Karen Hubacher, Heidi Fowler, Elizabeth MacDonald, Grace Mitchell, and Deborah Weiss. The exhibit runs from March 26 through April 30.
Beeing Up Close with Sam Droege
A photography exhibition at SANDBOX, cosponsored by the Center for Environment & Society, SANDBOX and the Department of Environmental Science and Studies.

Vanishing Of The Bees

Sponsored by Chestertown’s Environmental Committee, the movie Vanishing of the Bees follows commercial beekeepers as they strive to keep their bees healthy. Bees pollinate a third of the food we eat but they are vanishing from their hives at an alarming rate.

Learn about natural plants that need less water and fertilizer, how to reduce runoff, and how the Fertilizer Use Act of 2011 affects home owners. Hosted by Chester River Association.

Chestertown Earth Day Festival

The Sixth Annual Earth Day Festival includes eco-friendly services and goods, conservation and recycling info, a recycled art show, live music with Kent County favorites and family friendly activities. Bring your one-use batteries, cfl bulbs, fluorescent tubes, vhs/dvds/cds to recycle. Free paper shredding will also be available.

Mutt Strut Extravaganza
The Humane Society of Kent County (HSKC) is honoring 15 years of Mutt Strut with the biggest doggie celebration Chestertown has ever seen! The weekend includes a free family festival on Saturday with a pawrade, doggie games and contests, pet friendly vendors, exhibitors, food trucks, and live music with Philip Dutton and the Alligators and the High and Wides. Sunday there will be a 5K walk/run to benefit the pets of the Humane Society.

The Wet Paint Show and Sale is an exhibit of the paintings completed the first three days of Paint The Town. Good food and drink and beautiful art to buy.

Paint the Town Quick Draw Competition
11:00 am to Noon | Fountain Park
Plein air artists compete in a quick draw. Artist’s art will be on display at Fountain Park for judging.
Taste of the Town
Noon to 3 pm | Fountain Park
Spend an afternoon sampling signature dishes from Chestertown & Kent County’s finest restaurants and caterers. Pair the food with some local beer or wine. Watch chefs in action as they create dishes from a “mystery basket” of foods sourced from local farms. Sponsored by Downtown Chestertown Association.
