Ye Olde Chestertown Bocce League returns for its spring season April 27, 2015.
Adult teams are now forming for those interested in participating in the leisurely and fun outdoor league that plays in the evenings at Wilmer Park. No prior experience required, and limited athletic ability needed, (frankly, not necessary at all), just a willingness to have some fun with your neighbors.
Teams of up to 6 are eligible to join together, but individuals may sign up and be assigned a team.
League fees are a scant $25 and includes a team shirt. All remaining proceeds go towards the construction of a permanent bocce court in Chestertown. The league plays for 10 weeks through the spring into early summer. For more information email [email protected] or see the Chestertown Rec Commission Facebook page to download a registration form. Signs ups continue through April 22.

Special Olympics Maryland (SOMD) will be holding the High School unified sports Bocce State Games at Washington College May 1st from 9am -2pm and need volunteers to help with judging, registration etc. there will be an estimated 250 “special needs” students and their unified partners from about 16 schools competing. this is a great way to learn more about the sport as instruction will be provided to volunteers. To volunteer, go to the SOMD website and register or show up at the games and register. SOMD would prefer to have you sign up ahead of time so they have an idea of how many “support” people they will have to help them conduct this competition.
