Kent Chamber Music opens its 2014 – 2015 concert series on Saturday, October 18, at 7 pm. To begin the series, we welcome the string quartet – Excelsa Quartet.
New to our series, Excelsa Quartet was formed in January of 2009 at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. The Quartet has won both national and international string competitions and was recently appointed University of Maryland’s Graduate Fellowship String Quartet for 2013 – 2016. Performing in the Quartet are Laura Colgate, violin, Audrey Wright, violin, Valentina Shohdy, viola and Kacy Clopton, cello.
The Quartet will perform Langsamer Satz, Op. post. (1905) by Anton Webern, String Quartet No. 8 in B flat major, D. 112 by Franz Schubert and String Quartet No. 1 in B Minor “From my Life” by Bedrich Smetana.
The concert will be held at Hotchkiss Recital Hall, Gibson Center for the Arts at Washington College, 300 Washington Avenue (Route 213), Chestertown, at 7 pm. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $15. After the performance, light refreshments will be served, giving the audience a chance to meet and mingle with the musicians.
We hope you will join us for this wonderful evening of music brought to you in part by the generous financial support of the Kent County Arts Council and the Hedgelawn Foundation.
