Food & Wine Pairings at Osprey

January 14, 2011 by Dave Wheelan

On January 23, Chef Eliza Abbey of Osprey Point Restaurant in Rock Hall will be showcasing food pairings with the award-winning wines of Moshin Vineyards. California winemaker, Rick Moshin, will be on hand to talk about the wines and his classic California process, which produces delicious wines.

“When we tasted the demonstration wines Rick sent out, there wasn’t even one that we didn’t go: Yum! This is amazing !”   says Abbey.

The food pairings will be heavy hors d’oeuvres that will both complement and contrast with the flavors and characteristics of the wine.

“For every wine, there will be several sauces to demonstrate how a wine can taste different when paired with different flavors,”  Abbey says.  While many chefs use the same wine in a dish that they recommend drinking with it, Abbey will not cook with these wines.  “I won’t use them in the cooking because I want them to shine on their own,” she explains.
