On First Friday, November 4, 2016, The Artists’ Gallery will feature recent work by Nancy R. Thomas in “A Rural Perspective.” Her new show celebrates landmarks along the country roads of the Eastern Shore, inspired by her daily travels through local counties. When seen through the eye of this artist, everyday scenery morphs into monumental design elements, with aging structures, glowing fields and barns portrayed in new light.

Thomas enjoyed a career in dance before focusing her attention on visual art. She started her painting career in Alexandria, VA, acquiring an Associates Degree in Fine Art from Northern Virginia Community College. In addition, Thomas studied at the Corcoran School of Art, the Torpedo Factory, a “Project Study Tour of Italy” and many private workshops. She moved to the Eastern Shore twenty-two years ago and resides in Ridgely, where she has a home gallery and studio called Meadow Wood.
Nancy has been a partner with The Artists’ Gallery since 2010. She is also a juried member of the Working Artists Forum (where she was president from 2006-2009), the Washington Water Color Association, and the Baltimore Watercolor Society. She shows widely in local and national shows and has been the recipient of many awards.
The public is invited to visit The Artists’ Gallery on November 4th from 5-8 pm, for light refreshments and libations. Nancy’s show will be featured in The Artists’ Gallery throughout the month of November. The Artists’ Gallery is located at 239 High Street in Chestertown, and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10-5 and Sundays from 12:30-4:30.
