Get ready for some hoop magic on the Kent County High School basketball court—the Harlem Ambassadors will be taking on the local all-star team, the Kent County Crabbers.
And it’s all for a great cause.
The Chestertown Rotary Club, in collaboration with the KCHS Interact Club, KCHS Athletic Boosters, and Bayside HOYAS, is hosting the wildly entertaining Harlem Ambassadors Basketball Show in the Kent County High School gym on Wednesday, November 9 at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) to support local literacy and education projects.
The Ambassadors are a Harlem-style basketball team that features high-flying slam-dunks, wild and wooly ball handling tricks, and hilarious comedy routines. The Ambassadors play a high energy game, but also emphasize the importance of getting an education and living a positive lifestyle. The Ambassadors will be taking on the “home team” Kent County Crabbers, comprised of local community leaders and notables. The Crabbers will dazzle you with their eye-popping basketball skills.
The Rotary Club is planning some special pre-game and half-time presentations. With Thanksgiving just weeks away, the Rotary Club is also asking attendees to drop off non-perishable foods at the door to benefit the Kent County Food Pantry.
Tickets are available at a number of businesses – in Chestertown at Heron Point, Twigs & Teacups, and C’town Liquors & Deli, and in Rock Hall at Java Rock and can also be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2603134. The Rotary Club has kept the ticket costs down to make it affordable for families and basketball fans of all ages. Advance ticket prices are: Students: $7 and Adults: $10; At-the-Door prices (cash only) are: Students: $10 and Adults: $12, with children 5 and under admitted free. Folks should purchase their tickets in advance to take advantage of the discount rate plus to avoid a long line on the night of the event. The KCHS Athletic Boosters will be offering food and drink concessions, and Ambassadors merchandise will also be available for purchase.
The game has received tremendous support from local businesses, with The Chestertown Spy, The Kent County News, WCTR, and Heron Point Retirement Community generously serving as major sponsors.
The Harlem Ambassadors vs. Kent County Crabbers is guaranteed to make everyone laugh and enjoy an inexpensive night of slam dunk basketball, awesome athletic antics, and hilarity for a good cause, which is something we will all be ready for on the day following the election!
